Chocolatey-Chip Brownies

If you’re a chocolate lover- chances are you’ve craved some warm brownies throughout the year. This extra chocolatey-chip brownie recipe will kick those cravings and be an excellent addition to your recipe book! It has the perfect amount of chewy mixed with a crunchy crust. Enjoy!

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups granulated sugar

1/3 cup canola oil

1/4 cup milk (I use 2%)

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 egg

1 cup flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup mini chocolate chips

1/3 cup chocolate chips

additional 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Baking Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 f

Mix: In your stand mixer or large mixing bowl, mix together sugar, oil, milk, and vanilla until combined on medium speed (hand mixer) or speed 2 (stand mixer). Then add your egg and mix until all ingredients are well combined. It should be a yellow liquid at this point.

Mix: In a separate medium mixing bowl, add in the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix with a whisk until well combined. It should be a light brown cocoa color.

Combine: Combine your wet and dry mixtures together by adding your dry mixture into your wet mixture mixing bowl. If using your stand mixer, I recommend using your pouring shield before starting your mixer to combine. Mix the ingredients on medium speed for a hand mixer or 2 on your stand mixer. Mix until all ingredients are well combined and it looks like a dark brown batter.

Fold it in, David!: If you get the reference, you’re my kind of people! At this point you will take 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips and 1/3 cup regular chocolate chips and add them into your batter with a silicon spatula, scooping some batter from the bottom and dragging it to the top and continuing until chocolate chips are incorporated into the entire batter, also known as “folding it in”.

Grease: Grease a 9×9 pan with oil, all over the bottom and the side walls to avoid sticking. Some people choose to use parchment paper as well, I personally avoid it if I can just as a personal preference.

Bake: Add your batter into your greased 9×9 pan and spread it out evenly. Add 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips to the top of the batter after it has been spread evenly throughout the pan. Then bake for 25-27 minutes. You’ll know when they’re done when you do the “toothpick test” by inserting a toothpick into your batter after initial cook time is done. The toothpick should come out clean. I recommend testing a few spots, starting in the middle to be sure it has cooked evenly throughout.

Enjoy!: Once the bake time is over and it has been tested with your toothpick for doneness, take it out of the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes to cool. Once it’s cool, cut and enjoy! I recommend adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of your warm brownie because it is absolutely delicious.

*Tip: When measuring your ingredients, I highly recommend doing so over the sink. This helps reduce clean up because the ingredients that may have spilled and not made it into the measuring cups or spoons will fall directly into the sink and you can quickly wash it down the drain!
